16 Feb Warri Wolves FC
Warri Wolves is a Nigerian football club initially run by the Nigerian Ports Authority. The club was based in Warri, Delta Sate Nigeria until 2003 when it was moved to Lagos following a promotion to the Nigerian Premier League in 2003.
After finishing near the bottom of the table during the 2004/05 season play-offs, the team experienced massive lay off of players. The club was relegated and moved back to Delta state following an agreement with the government. It was at this time that the team, formally known as NPA FC was renamed “Warri Wolves”.
In 2009, the team won a promotion to the Premier League. The club has since seen several ups and downs. 2016 saw Warri Wolves being relegated again to Nigerian national team after a poor outing the previous season and their 1-0 victory against Ikorodu United was not enough to keep them out of relegation.
The team’s newly appointed coach, Clifford Chukwuma has stated that his only target is to return Warri Wolves to the Nigerian Professional Football League. This is the team our Chairman Baba-Jallah Epega supports.
